In 2007 Vancouver 2010 Olympic coin program began. The Bay and the Mint were Olympic sponsors but I was not an authorized Olympic coin dealer. 1993: Elvis at Eaton’s

Dan was at PHILEX in Toronto when the U.S. Elvis stamp was released and managed to secure some for sale at our Eaton’s stamp and coin department. Most news media covered the sale and people were lined up for two weeks to buy sheets, blocks, t-shirts, and first day covers of the 29c Elvis stamps.

1991: The impact of GST 

The GST began and impacted store visits and purchases. We started bid board style auctions to offset the losses. We also stopped handling antiquities as border crossing became more difficult. A cruise ship visitors shuttle to Eaton’s helped.

1989: Return to Vancouver

Macdonald’s invited me to their Toronto headquarters to discuss commemorative covers from the 1988 Soviet-Canadian Polar Bridge Expedition with a Russian delegation. It was an important meeting as Macdonald’s was expanding into Russia at the time. I was paid in Big Mac and Taxi passes.
