Memories from 40 years in the stamp and coin business
by Brian Grant Duff
1994: Eaton’s coin and stamp department

Eaton’s got a postage stamp marking their 125th anniversary. There are two different types of plastic packaging around the booklets.

The ever creative Darnell launched an ounce silver Eaton’s $50 gift coin with the stamp image. Darnell visited me in hopes of taking over the Vancouver coin and stamp department. Not that they discussed it with me.

Each year I buy rolls of 50c pieces to offer singles to clients. In 1994 I found and promoted the Dot in G of D.G. 50c variety, now listed.

The Canucks made a playoff run, so I sourced and sold Canucks caps as part of our sportscard offering. Eaton’s management did not like it when I wore one.

The United States recalled their Legends of the West stamps. Canada released some Christmas stamps denominated for a postal rate increase that never happened.
