Memories of Eaton’s stamp and coin department 1998
John Jamieson sold the 2c Laid Paper Large Queen he got from Dan Eaton.
The Royal Canadian Mint started producing Lunar New Year coins which were popular with their target market.

The Mint’s licensed Titanic privy mark Silver Maple Leaf quietly sold on eBay.

The Mint offered a 90th anniversary silver coin set featuring the first large cent and small five cents since 1920 and 1921. The 5-coin set came in an antiqued finish which was unpopular with collectors. The Royal Canadian Mint inadvertently left the country name off the 1908-1998 large cent in the set. The corrected version was issued in a more traditional proof finish.

Bought a unique set of 1894 Bank of British Columbia banknote proof sheets from Chuck Moore. He said they came from a large lot in the Christie’s American Banknote Company Archives auction. When I asked how Christie’s missed them, Charles said the material filled a basketball court.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation actually paid me to do a series of early morning radio broadcasts about the federal government threatening to remove the Queen from Canada’s stamps.
